The thick gray smoke begins to curl from the vents of the luxury yacht, but the woman on the dock does not flinch. She adjusts her sunglasses, smiles at her phone, and snaps another selfie. Inside the cabin, a tiny golden puppy paws frantically against the glass. The air is becoming unbreathable.
A Selfie To Die For
A man rushes toward her, pointing at the billows of smoke pouring from the deck. He screams for her to open the door. “She was being annoying during my shoot,” the woman dismisses him with a cold wave of her hand. She does not care about the life gasping for air inside.
She turns her back on the animal and walks away. The click of her heels on the dock sounds like a death knell. The man realizes nobody else is coming to help.
The Great Escape
He does not hesitate. He grabs a heavy tool and smashes the reinforced glass of the yacht. Shards of crystal scatter across the deck like diamonds. The adrenaline is pumping through his veins. He can barely see through the haze.
He reaches into the burning cabin and pulls the shaking puppy to safety. He does not stop to talk. He dives into a waiting truck and the engine roars to life. They have to get out of there before the yacht becomes a tomb.
Justice Served Cold
The woman is not finished. She chases the truck in a silver SUV, trying to ram them off the road. Blue and red lights finally fill the rearview mirror. The truth is undeniable.
She points at the man and screams that he is a thief. The officer takes the man’s phone and watches the recording of the entire incident. The silence of the officers is terrifying.
The metal cuffs click shut around her wrists. She looks at the camera, but this time, there is no filter to save her. The puppy is safe in the arms of a hero.
A life is worth more than a thousand likes.
