Above, a larger golden retriever paces frantically. It whines, a sound of pure anguish. Its baby is trapped. There’s no way down, no way to reach the shivering pup.
Panic sets in. The mother dog knows time is running out. She turns, a desperate glint in her eyes. There’s only one hope. She must find him.
A Bark With A Message
Inside the cozy cabin, a man sits by the fire. His dog bursts through the door, barking furiously. Her tail wags, but it’s a frantic, urgent motion. “What’s the matter, girl?” he asks, confused.
But she won’t be ignored. She jumps, she whines, she tugs at his clothes. Her message is clear: follow me, now. He grabs his coat. The urgency in her eyes is undeniable. He trusts her.
A Race Against Time
The man follows her out into the snow. The crisp air bites. The dog leads him directly to the cliff edge. He looks down. His breath catches. A wave of fear washes over him. There, barely clinging, is the tiny puppy.
He doesn’t hesitate. He moves with purpose, securing himself near a tree. The ice is treacherous, but he sees the fear in the puppy’s eyes. He has to reach it. He leans over the edge.
“Hold on there, sweetheart. I’ve got you.” His voice is calm, reassuring. He stretches, reaching, fingers brushing the tiny, icy fur. One hand, then two. He grips the small body. Slowly, carefully, he lifts. The puppy is light, fragile. He pulls it upwards, away from the yawning abyss.
The puppy is safe.
