The roar of the motorcycle engine masked the old man’s footsteps as he walked along the narrow bridge. He never heard them coming. A young man, laughing alongside his female passenger, slowed his bike just enough to deliver a violent, unprovoked kick. The elderly man spun over the railing, falling through the air before hitting the icy lake below with a massive splash. The bikers didn’t even look back as they sped toward town.
Sarah Springs into Action
Sarah was focused on her clipboard, recording water quality data for the city, when the scream pierced the air. She looked up just in time to see the man’s head disappear beneath the surface. Without a second thought, she shed her outer gear and dove into the turbulent water. The current was strong, and the elderly man was losing his fight to stay afloat.
She found him sinking, his eyes wide with panic as the darkness began to take hold. Sarah grabbed him with a firm grip, pulling his face toward the surface. With every ounce of strength in her lungs and limbs, she swam back toward her boat, dragging the half-conscious man with her. The struggle felt like an eternity, but she finally hoisted him onto the deck.

As the man gasped for air and gripped Sarah’s hand in gratitude, she didn’t waste any time. She grabbed her phone and dialed the local precinct. Within minutes, police sirens echoed across the bridge. The officers caught the motorcycle near the edge of town, cutting off their escape route. The handcuffs clicked into place as the young man and his accomplice were led away. Justice finally caught up to those who thought they were above it.
