An Order To Leave The Cabin
The flight attendant thrust her right index finger toward the exit door of the private jet.
She stood firmly in the center aisle, blocking the pathway with her back straightened and her lips drawn thin.
Facing her was an older man dressed in a scuffed brown jacket and an untucked button-down shirt.
He stood motionless between the plush beige leather passenger seats, his leather shoes planted on the carpeted floor.
“Sir, leave. Now,” she said, her voice sharp and rapid. “You don’t belong here.”
The man tilted his chin up slightly, keeping his arms resting at his sides.
“You’re making a mistake,” he answered, his tone measured and quiet.
“I know exactly what I’m doing,” she shot back, stepping half an inch closer and tilting her head toward the door.
Standing His Ground
The man did not step back or reach into his pockets for a ticket.
“You should ask first,” he told her, looking straight into her eyes.
“You’re leaving,” she repeated, her hands dropping to her hips before gesturing once more toward the jet entrance.
“I have a seat,” the man said plainly.
The attendant narrowed her eyes and swept her gaze down over his faded collar and frayed cuffs.
“Not anymore,” she responded. “You should have dressed appropriately.”
“Clothes don’t decide worth,” the passenger replied without raising his volume.
The attendant tightened her jaw, leaning forward as she delivered her final ultimatum.
“Last warning,” she said, clipping each syllable. “Get off.”
“Call your captain,” the man stated.
The Captain Intervenes
Footsteps echoed from the front corridor as a tall pilot in a dark navy uniform and gold shoulder stripes walked into the cabin.
The flight attendant turned to face him, expecting immediate backup to remove the passenger.
The captain stopped abruptly in the narrow aisle, looking between the attendant and the older man.
“Mr. Hayes?” the pilot asked, stepping forward with his hands clasped low in front of his jacket.
The captain looked directly at the flight attendant, his eyebrows furrowing.
“Do you know who he is?” the pilot asked in a stern, quiet tone.
The flight attendant paused, her eyes shifting from the captain back to the man in the worn coat.
“He owns this airline,” the captain stated.
A Lesson In Dignity
The attendant’s mouth dropped open as her posture collapsed.
Her eyes went wide, and she pulled her hands back toward her chest.
“I… I didn’t know,” she whispered, her shoulders sinking.
“That’s the problem,” the passenger answered calmly, keeping his hands still at his sides.
The captain looked down at the floor before shifting his stern gaze back to the attendant.
“Respect shouldn’t need a name,” the older man said, his gaze steady on the crew members.
The captain turned on his heel and began walking down the aisle toward the cockpit as the attendant lowered her head toward the carpet.
