A Mother’s Worst Nightmare
A tiny husky puppy splashes frantically in the dark water. Every second counts as its strength begins to fade. Above, a larger husky circles the rim of the well, her barks echoing across the field. Please, someone hear us, her eyes seem to scream.
She knows she cannot reach the puppy alone. The drop is too deep. The water is too dark. She takes one last look at the struggling pup and bolts across the grass. Something has to give before the puppy disappears beneath the surface.
The Race For Help
She finds her human, a man working in the distance. She jumps and pulls at his clothes, refusing to let him stay still. Follow me, now! she demands with every frantic movement. The man is confused but senses the urgency in her voice.
He drops his tools and begins to run. They reach the concrete cylinder, and the man peers over the edge. His heart stops at the sight of the tiny head bobbing in the water. He has to act before the puppy slips under for good. He looks around frantically for a solution.
The Great Escape
The man reaches for a long-handled net. He leans over the dangerous edge, stretching as far as he can. The puppy is tired and scared, splashing away from the shadow. Hold on, little one, the man whispers through gritted teeth.
He scoops the net under the shivering animal. With one steady pull, he lifts the puppy from the watery grave. The moment the pup hits the grass, the hero dog is there to lick away the fear. The nightmare is finally over.
