“Get out of here!” The employee’s voice cuts through the morning air like a sharp blade. She points a trembling finger at the young man standing on the sidewalk. He wears a faded gray hoodie and a backpack that has seen better days. To her, he is just a nuisance cluttering the entrance of her high-end boutique.
The Weight Of A Broken Dream
Leo flinches as the door slams shut in his face. He isn’t homeless, though his clothes might suggest otherwise. His father’s medical bills have drained every cent they had. This morning was supposed to be his turning point. I just need one chance to fix this, he thinks while wiping a stray tear from his cheek. He needs a suit for the interview of a lifetime, but the world seems determined to keep its doors locked.
The Man In The Shadowed Car
Across the street, a sleek black sedan sits idling in the shadows. Inside, a man in a perfectly tailored navy suit watches the entire exchange. His eyes narrow as he sees the employee’s sneer. He remembers the cold rain on his own skin thirty years ago. He remembers the sting of being invisible to the world. He steps out of the car, his leather shoes clicking against the pavement with predatory precision.
The Reveal That Shattered Everything
The man approaches Leo and places a firm hand on his shoulder. Together, they walk back toward the glass doors of the boutique. The employee sees them coming and rushes to lock the entrance once more. “No vagrants allowed!” she screams through the glass. The man in the suit doesn’t flinch. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a silver key that fits perfectly into the lock. She has no idea what’s coming, he muses silently as the tumblers click.
The door swings open. The air inside is cold and smells of expensive perfume. The employee stands frozen, her mouth agape as she realizes the man in front of her isn’t just a customer. “I am the owner of this establishment,” he says, his voice a low, dangerous rumble. He looks at her name tag and then back at the boy in the hoodie. “And today, you have shown me exactly why you no longer belong here.”
