He turns and walks back toward his vehicle. The roadside scene recedes as he carries the kitten away from the constant flow of traffic. The sound of tires on the pavement creates a constant hum behind him. He carries the creature with his chin tucked down toward his chest, watching his step on the rocky terrain.
