An Argument at Check-In
A passenger stepped up to an airport counter and handed over his travel document, asking to check in for his flight.
The counter agent barely looked up before sliding the paper back across the desk, informing him the flight was oversold.
When he noted his confirmed reservation, she replied that confirmation did not grant priority.
Tension at the Counter
The passenger pointed out that he held a valid ticket and arrived on time, requesting she check the system.
Instead of reviewing the computer, the agent grabbed his ticket document and tore it directly down the middle.
She then demanded his identification to see what made him special, taking his card and running it through the reader.
A Sudden Turnaround
The system screen flashed bright red with an executive clearance prompt bearing his name, Daniel Cross.
A terminal manager hurried over immediately upon seeing the system flag, asking Mr. Cross why he was standing in line.
The agent attempted to explain that she did not recognize him, but the manager corrected her, identifying him as the terminal’s Executive Operations Director.
Immediate Accountability
Rather than focusing on his own seat, Mr. Cross asked how many other travelers had received similar treatment at the counter.
He instructed the manager to remove the agent from the desk counter pending an immediate operational review.
The counter agent stood silent as the manager directed her away from the terminal desk.
