Unexpected Clash in the Corral
A black horse reared on its hind legs as a mountain lion lunged forward through the dry dirt.
Dust kicked up around hooves and paws as the predator circled the trapped stallion.
Stepping Between Danger
A cowboy in a brimmed hat and plaid shirt sprinted directly toward the conflict while shouting loudly.
He positioned himself between the sharp claws and the startled stallion to disrupt the attack.
Waving his arms, he forced the big cat to back away toward the far edge of the pen.
Restoring the Peace
The rancher mounted a nearby utility vehicle and revved the engine to create a barrier.
He drove the vehicle forward, steering the cougar away from the center of the corral.
Stepping down, he swung open the metal gate to give the horse an exit route.
A Moment of Calm
The dark stallion trotted through the opening and came to a stop near the rancher.
The man reached out and stroked the horse’s forehead while the mountain lion remained behind the fence line.
The stallion lowered its head against the cowboy’s shirt as dust settled across the ranch.
