A Sudden Confrontation By The Glass Case
An elderly man in a worn gray jacket stood quietly beside the polished display cases, leaning forward to inspect the luxury timepieces under the glass.
Footsteps echoed across the marble floor as a younger salesman in a black suit marched directly toward him.
“Sir, don’t touch that case!” the salesman shouted, stepping into the older man’s space. “These watches cost more than your car.”
The older man blinked, keeping his hands by his sides. “I was only looking,” he replied softly.
“Then look somewhere else,” the salesman snapped, raising his arm to point toward the exit doors. “This isn’t a place for window shoppers.”
Standing Ground Against The Salesman
The salesman stepped closer, his brow furrowed as other customers across the showroom turned their heads to watch.
“I’ve seen this before,” the salesman said, his voice carrying across the quiet room. “People come in and pretend they can afford something.”
The older man did not back away. He adjusted the collar of his frayed jacket and looked straight into the salesman’s eyes.
“You’re making a very dangerous assumption,” the older man said evenly.
“I’m telling you to leave right now,” the salesman demanded, jabbing his finger toward the doorway once more.
“Fine,” the older man answered calmly, sliding one hand into his pocket. “But first, call your manager.”
The salesman let out a sharp scoff, crossing his arms and shaking his head in disbelief.
The Manager Steps Into The Room
A woman in a tailored black blazer stepped quickly out from the back office, walking past the center display tables toward the commotion.
She stopped abruptly, her eyes widening as she looked past the salesman’s shoulder.
“Wait,” she said, quickening her stride until she stood directly between the two men. “Mr. Carter?”
The salesman glanced between them, his confident stance slipping. “You know him?”
The woman dipped her head in a deep bow, clasping her hands neatly in front of her waist.
“Know him?” she said, looking up with wide eyes. “He owns this boutique.”
The salesman’s mouth dropped open. His eyebrows shot up, and his arms fell limp at his sides.
“You insulted the owner in front of customers!” the manager said, turning sharply toward the clerk and pointing a stern finger.
“Sir… I didn’t know,” the salesman stammered, stepping back with his palms raised.
The Final Command
Mr. Carter turned his gaze slowly back to the clerk, his expression firm and unyielding.
“That’s exactly the problem,” the older man said, his voice cutting through the silent room. “You judged me before you knew me.”
He turned his head toward the female manager standing beside him.
“Take him off the sales floor,” Mr. Carter stated, giving a single nod toward the back room.
The female manager lowered her head and turned toward the silent clerk, while Mr. Carter walked steadily past the display cases.
