Patient Dismissed By Hospital Staff Demands Answers At Reception Desk

Skipping the Line

A nurse gestured toward a man in a dark suit, ushering him directly past the waiting lobby.

A casually dressed man in a white shirt and olive green jacket sat on a leather waiting chair, holding a black wallet in his hands.

He had been sitting in the lobby long before the new arrival stepped through the front glass doors.

He watched as the nurse extended her hand across the counter to greet the latecomer with a warm smile.

He stood up from his chair and walked over to the wooden reception desk. He asked the receptionist why someone who arrived after him was being escorted inside first.

A Confrontation in the Lobby

The nurse glanced down at her desktop computer screen and smoothed her blue scrub top.

She stated that the other visitor had priority treatment over the rest of the visitors sitting in the lobby chairs.

A senior hospital administrator wearing a grey suit and navy tie walked out from a side hallway.

He stepped directly into the man’s path, standing inches away while demanding an immediate end to the discussion.

The man in the green jacket kept his hands lowered. He asked why financial status dictated who received care first in a medical building.

The administrator turned his shoulder toward the door and told the man to take his complaints outside the facility.

Making the Phone Call

The man reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a black smartphone.

He pressed the screen and brought the phone to his ear while pacing slowly down the main hallway floor.

He instructed his secretary on the line to cancel all of his scheduled executive meetings for the next morning.

He stated into the receiver that an urgent operational issue inside the hospital required his immediate oversight.

The nurse paused her typing, turned toward him, and asked who he was speaking to on the phone.

He turned around and stated that he was speaking to the board members who manage the facility.

Equal Treatment for Everyone

The senior administrator’s phone chimed loudly inside his suit pocket. He pulled it out and looked down at the caller ID.

His expression changed as he read the name displayed across the screen.

He looked up and asked if he was standing in front of David Morgan, the founder of Morgan Healthcare.

David Morgan stood in the center of the hallway and confirmed that he owned the entire healthcare group operating the facility.

The administrator joined his hands together in front of his suit coat, offering an immediate verbal apology for the incident.

David Morgan turned his gaze toward the patient seating row, looking at an elderly woman holding a brown purse and a young man in a hoodie.

He informed the administrator that no staff members were being terminated today, but starting tomorrow morning, every single patient in the lobby would receive equal priority.

The administrator bowed his head toward his chest, holding his phone tightly with both hands while the nurse stood quietly behind the counter.
