A little girl with braided pigtails rested her hands on her lap while looking up at her mother.
She asked if her father would be coming home tonight.

The father sat on the couch with his daughter resting against his side, holding an open picture book across his lap.
She turned her head upward, looking into his eyes to ask if he could stay until the story ended.
He turned the page, smiled at her, and promised he would stay until the very last page.
He pointed to the colored illustrations in the book while she snuggled closer under his arm, turning the next page together.
